An individual who spiked candy with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two boys who were nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his stepchild had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor stated materials including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were located, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant continued to conduct the "treat game" with six children that evening - that Saturday - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she added.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member contacted the authorities a second time.
She stated Ruben then played the "sweet game" in a space of five minors.
