Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
